ZeroPlastic has been making waves at the University of Peradeniya, spreading its message of sustainability and environmental responsibility across faculties. The recent orientation sessions have successfully introduced new students to our vision, encouraging them to take action against plastic pollution.
A Journey Through Six Successful Orientations
The first ZeroPlastic orientation program kicked off on December 19th at the Management Faculty Auditorium, where students from the Management Faculty were introduced to our initiatives. With an enthusiastic audience, the session set the tone for what was to come.
On 24th of January , we reached out to the Faculty of Agriculture, engaging with the 21st batch of students. The response was overwhelming, as they showed great interest in sustainable agricultural practices and how they could contribute to the ZeroPlastic movement.
Moving forward, on February 7th, the program was conducted at the Faculty of Engineering for the 22nd batch. Future engineers were encouraged to think critically about sustainable designs and eco-friendly alternatives in their respective fields.
The Department of Law at the Faculty of Arts had its session on 21st of February , where legal minds discussed the importance of environmental policies and laws related to plastic waste management.
Another orientation followed on 12th of March , specifically for the 22nd batch of the Faculty of Arts, widening the reach of ZeroPlastic within the faculty.
Finally, on 18th of March , the last orientation was conducted for the 23rd batch of the Management Faculty, wrapping up a series of successful programs that saw over 100 students participating in each session.
With the momentum gained from these orientations, ZeroPlastic aims to continue expanding its reach, ensuring that every student at the University of Peradeniya understands the urgency of reducing plastic waste and actively contributes to a greener future.
Together, we are not just spreading awareness—we are creating a movement. The fight against environmental pollution starts with us.
