World Migratory Bird Day🦅🦩🌎

World Migratory Bird Day is celebrated every year on the 2nd Saturday of May in the United States and Canada and on the 2nd Saturday of October in Central and South America considering different hemispheres. Every spring, birds migrate from South and Central America to the United States and Canada. These birds can travel up to 5000 miles, which will take about 8 weeks to complete the journey.
Focusing on the importance of insects for migratory birds as the theme for the year 2024, the vitality of insects which is considered as an essential food source for migratory birds, is highlighted. Urban development has become a major threat for the destruction of natural spaces like forests and grasslands, which is a root cause for the decline in insect population. This decrease in the population of insects can drastically impact the timing, duration, as well as the success of the epic journey of migratory birds.
