What is eco tourism

What is Eco-tourism?🌿🏞️✈️

The world Tourism Organization defines ecotourism as; all nature-based forms of tourism in which the main motivation of the tourists is the observation and appreciation of nature as well as the traditional cultures prevailing in natural areas. Eco tourism is especially popular among environmentalists and those who are concerned about protecting the natural world.
Ecotourism is important because companies and individuals who adhere to the core principles and prioritize ecology and education within their travel habits help to benefit local people and the world as a whole. Perhaps the single biggest advantage of ecotourism is the fact that it encourages both travelers and businesses operating in the tourism industry to become more mindful about nature and more committed to adopting the kind of sustainable. Moreover, ecotourism activities can help to provide an incentive for governments, businesses, charity organizations to consider conservation efforts seriously.
However, ecotourism has some negative impacts as well. It can create overcrowding at popular destinations as more people go there for vacation. Overcrowding can lead to the destruction of resources essential for wildlife preservation.
Sri Lanka has the best eco destinations and probably the greatest variety anywhere in the world. Each destination is exclusive, having something novel to offer; from the sea coast right up to the mist covered mountains. Some of the examples for those destinations are Sinharaja forest, Knuckles mountains, Hortain Plains, Sigiriya and Anawilundawa bird sanctuary. Apart from that Costa Rica, Ice land, Galapagas Islands, Amazon rain forest, Chile are best examples for eco destinations in the world.
Everyone has a part to play in ecotourism. It’s up to the governments of countries to promote and fund it, but it’s also up to us to actively make responsible choices.
