ZeroPlastic Movement is the Sri Lankan largest environmental friendly organization with 11 000 plus volunteers. The main purpose is to reduce the plastic usage while raising the awareness among the public people not to dispose plastic materials uneffectively and protect the environment. By becoming a volunteer at ZeroPlastic Movement , how you can polish up your qualifications and skills?

Volunteering is all about dedicating your time and effort to support the society or environment without expecting and finacial compensation. Firstly by volunteering, you tempt to do a service to the outer community without expecting something back. beyond a qualification, it is a good basic human quality that everyone of us master. Let’s consider a beach clean up and you participated in that clean up as a volunteer. Indeed it is a team work, the volunteers may have participated representing various universities , towns , institutes and also may be from different countries. This networking opportunities are seriously a blessing you can gain from volunteering. There you automatically train yourself to develop people skills by dealing with those people.

Now let’s consider that you are a leader/ the project head of project. As the project head you develop your leadership skills, decison making skills .Being a leader is a responsibility. By becoming a part of the ZeroPlastic Movement, you receive that experience of being responsible .As a leader you should have communicated well and clearly within the organizing committee .If we miscommunicate, sometimes the overall project will be in a failure. Understanding other peoples’ conditions, emotions and communicate effectively also skills we must develop.

Prior to the execution of projects , we must take permission from the relevant company or premises. From making permission letters to meeting and hand- overing those letters to the responsible people , we gain a some sort of training automatically to work in the coorpertae field in the future. Finalizing a location to the project , increasing the participation count to the event , arranging refreshment, and also arranging some meetings with the organizing committee members , delivering the thank you speech at the end of the event are some basic incidents we do related to projects. Within all of these activities , we get hands on experiences.
