Pen Bin Love

In a world where waste often goes unnoticed, the ZeroPlastic Club of Wayamba University decided to take a stand—one empty pen at a time. “Pen Bin Love,” was more than just a collection drive; it was a powerful statement on sustainability, reminding everyone that even the smallest choices can make a difference.

On April 4th, at 12:30 PM, at the main canteen in Makadura premises buzzed with energy as students came together to drop off their used pens. The project was led by the President Bala Sutharshan, Vice President Gavesh Kavinda, and Secretary Udeshi Sandeepani, the event was carefully planned to ensure collect empty and used pens as much as possible, without discarding them.directly to the environment.

Project heads D.M.R.A. Dissanayake and K.A.K. Probodhani, alongside the organizing committee members P.T. Gamage and W.R. Roopasinghe, worked tirelessly to bring the vision to life. The event initiated from former Vice President Saranya, who emphasized how small steps like this could lead to a more sustainable future.

The response was overwhelming—bins quickly filled up, proving that students were eager to be a part of solution, not pollution. Each pen represented not just a tool for writing, but a mindset shift towards reducing waste and embracing reuse.

The event was a reminder that sustainability isn’t just about grand gestures—it’s about the little things we choose to change every day.
