Moratuwa, July 2024 – In a significant stride toward fostering environmental stewardship, the ZeroPlastic NISD Community has launched the “Green Guardians: School Edition” as part of its broader EcoConscious Initiative. This event, held in conjunction with International Plastic Bag Free Day 2024, seeks to engage students in the fight against plastic pollution while promoting sustainable living practices.
The Green Guardians initiative was rolled out across schools in Moratuwa, aiming to instill a deep-rooted environmental consciousness among students. The program’s objective is not only to raise awareness about the detrimental impacts of plastic pollution but also to empower the younger generation to take proactive steps in safeguarding the environment.
The event kicked off with an inspiring keynote speech that highlighted the devastating effects of plastic on wildlife, ecosystems, and human health. “Our goal is to equip students with the knowledge and tools they need to become proactive green guardians in their schools and communities,” said Kavishal Rasintha, Club President and Project Head of the ZeroPlastic NISD Community. “By engaging them in hands-on activities and discussions, we hope to inspire a new generation of eco-conscious leaders.”
