We are excited to announce the successful projects of our University’s Zero Plastic
Organization, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting
sustainability. This article focuses on the “Thuru-Mithuru
Project”, as part of the larger “Bamboo Bloom” initiative.
The Ocean University of Sri Lanka recently celebrated the “Thuru-Mithuru Project” as part of the larger “Bamboo Bloom” initiative. The event, which took place at the Thelangapatha Sri Rathnapura Maha Vidyalaya, was aimed at promoting tree planting and environmental conservation.
The Thuru-Mithuru Project is a tree planting initiative that seeks to increase the country’s forest cover and mitigate the effects of climate change. The project is part of a larger effort by the university to promote sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.
During the event, participants planted a variety of trees, including fruit trees, medicinal plants, and timber trees. The initiative also included educational sessions on the importance of tree planting and environmental conservation.
The Thuru-Mithuru Project is an important step towards addressing the environmental challenges facing Sri Lanka. Deforestation, soil erosion, and climate change are all major issues that threaten the country’s natural resources and biodiversity. By promoting tree planting and sustainable practices, the Ocean University of Sri Lanka is helping to protect the environment and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
Overall, the Thuru-Mithuru Project was a great success, with participants coming together to plant trees and learn about the importance of environmental conservation. The initiative is a testament to the university’s commitment to sustainability and its role as a leader in promoting environmental stewardship in Sri Lanka.
