The Green Haven Cleanup Campaign at ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya, held on March 13, 2024, demonstrated the profound impact of collective action on environmental sustainability. With immense pride, we acknowledge the remarkable contributions of over 150 passionate volunteers who played pivotal roles in the resounding success of this initiative.
Over the course of two hours, our dedicated team diligently sorted and collected 60+ garbage bags, meticulously separating plastics, polythene, papers, glass, and cloth. This monumental effort not only cleared our cherished green spaces but also underscored our unwavering commitment to fostering a cleaner, greener future for generations to come.
The cleanup project at Gannoruwa, Kandy, was a significant climate action initiative, achieving tremendous success thanks to the collaborative efforts of ZeroPlastic University of Peradeniya. The Peradeniya Police Station and the Municipal Council of Kandy also supported the campaign, further highlighting the importance of community involvement in environmental stewardship.
Together, let us continue to embrace collaboration and growth as we strive towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious world. Our collective efforts have set a powerful precedent, and we are excited to see the continued impact we will make as we forge ahead on this journey.
