International Day of Action for Rivers 🐟🏞

We all know that the freshwater content on the Earth’s surface is very low, and rivers are a major source of freshwater. Rivers are really important for many purposes such as; access to clean water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning, and for transportation. Rivers are connected to our lives not only as a need but also spiritually.

However, human activities are polluting the rivers leading the lives of mankind towards a dangerous situation. It is really important to acknowledge that “Rivers matter”. For that, the International Day of Action for Rivers celebrated annually on the fourteenth of March, is a day that is dedicated to saving, celebrating, and creating awareness about the importance of rivers.

The day involves a wide range of activities such as educational programs, grassroots
actions, and community events that are organized by enthusiastic nature lovers
worldwide. This year, the day focuses on the theme “Water for all”, also stressing the point that water is life and is meant for all.
