In Sri Lanka, the ZeroPlastic National Movement is transforming environmental conservation. As the country’s largest environmental volunteer organization, it aims to eradicate plastic pollution through education, advocacy, and community action. With over 12,000 volunteers from diverse sectors, the movement spearheads grassroots environmental efforts.
This nationwide network of clubs and societies is dedicated to eliminating plastic waste. Each club operates independently with its own executive community, guided by central policies, ensuring localized engagement and ownership. This decentralized approach tackles unique regional challenges, fostering strong commitment among volunteers.

A key innovation of the movement is the Zero Plastic app, designed to connect, inform, and empower volunteers. This mobile application streamlines participation in environmental activities, offering several key features:
1. Event Notifications: Volunteers receive timely updates on activities based on their location.
2. Engagement Tracking: The app monitors participation, awarding points for time spent on activities.
3. Volunteer Classification: Volunteers are classified into three levels based on engagement scores.
4. Recognition and Rewards: High achievers are celebrated annually, encouraging sustained involvement.
The app enhances the movementโs impact, making it easier for volunteers to stay informed and engaged. Activities range from cleanup campaigns and awareness programs to art exhibitions and hikes, making environmental advocacy accessible and enjoyable.
Join the ZeroPlastic family by downloading the app and helping create a sustainable, plastic-free world.
